Bishopbriggs piper helps lift the spirits of care home residents

Local piper Robin Hay is helping to raise the spirits of elderly residents who are not able to see their family during the Covid-19 crisis.

He has been doing a tour of East Dunbartonshire, performing requests in the gardens of local care homes.

Robin, from Bishopbriggs, said: “This is a complete free service. I want to lift spirits and give a smile to residents and carers.

“Due to Covid-19, many of the residents have been locked in and unable to see their relatives. I’ve had a fantastic response thus far.”

A spokesperson for a Milton of Campsie care home said: “Robin played in our garden area for our residents in Lillyburn Care Home on Saturday. They are still talking about it now.

“They loved hearing Robin play and it brought so much joy to their afternoon. Thank you so much Robin so giving up your time in order to bring happiness to Lillyburn, it was very much appreciated.”
