BLACKWOOD and Kirkmuirhill Gala Queen 2010 Amy Watson was crowned as those watching basked in glorious sunshine at Lochanbank Park.

Retiring queen Casey Law did the honours just after noon on Saturday as Champion Angus Barr, fellow court members and family and friends looked on.

Fabulous sunshine brought the whole community out into the streets as this year's procession got underway, leaving Blackwood Primary School just after 11.15am.

Winding it's way through the streets, the procession eventually made its way to Lochanbank Park for the crowning ceremony.

Esther Serrells, from Blackwood Gala Committee, said: "The whole day was just magnificent.

"The excellent weather made the day extra special for everyone.

"It was a fantastic community event with the schools, businesses, churches and other groups coming together for their gala day."
