Blueprint drawn up showing where quarrying is allowed in Clydesdale

THE final blueprint of exactly where controversial quarrying will – and will not – be allowed in Clydesdale in the future has been drawn up.

South Lanarkshire Council put its new proposed Minerals Local Development Plan – a map’ showing areas that could and could not be developed – out to consultation earlier this year to ask the public what they thought about it.

And the public certainly told them!

In fact, the council received 308 representations on their proposals, the Gazette understands a large proportion coming from Clydesdale, despite it having only a tenth of South Lanarkshire’s population.
