Braidwood housing plans could spell end for nursery

PLANS have been lodged for a housing development at the brownfield site of Headspoint Nursery in Braidwood, leading to the potential closure of the garden centre and tearoom business built around 50 years ago.

A Design Statement, as part of the application to South Lanarkshire Council from Lanark-based applicant William Veitch, claims that building the unspecified number of up-market family homes in an area off the A73 boasting a spectacular view of the Clyde Valley could attract professional commuters.
