Brides’ plans left in limbo after dress business goes bust

Hundreds of brides are facing uncertainty after a wedding dress business unexpectedly shut up shop.

Boutique Bridal, in Bishopbriggs, was left lying empty last week, just months after opening in the town’s Kirkintilloch Road.

The shop was run by Karen Boyd, who also owned Bridal Studio in Glasgow.

On June 27 many clients receieved text messages and emails advising them that the company had ceased trading.

A statement on the Bridal Studio website states: “Due to a turndown in business we regret that the Bridal Studio Ltd has now cease to trade from Thursday 27 June.

“All gowns kept in our warehouse will be delivered to brides from today.

“This decision has not been taking lightly and we apologise to everyone involved.”

But the Boutique Bridal website reveals no link to the Glasgow shop and, as the Herald went to press, continued to promise to source “only the most select bridal gowns from our distinguished international designers.”

A spokesperson for the business said that an email hotline had been set up at [email protected] to deal with queries and that they were “doing everything we can to accommodate the closure”.
