Bridge to close

SEABEGS Bridge, which carries the B816 Castlecary Road between Allandale and Castlecary is to be closed for six weeks from the end of this month for strengthening and refurbishment work.

In addition to the bridge works roadworks will also be carried out on the B816 itself, between Bridgend Crescent in Castlecary and Allandale, as part of the M80 Stepps to Haggs project.

A spokesman for Transport Scotland said: “The nature and extent of the essential bridge structural works necessitate a closure of the road at this location for a period of six

weeks from Monday, February 28, 2011.

“In order to achieve the timely completion of these works, and to minimise the duration of the disruption to road users, as much of the road improvement works as possible will also be undertaken within the period of the closure for the bridgeworks.”

During the closure traffic travelling towards Allandale from Castlecary should follow the diversion via the A80 northbound merge slip road at Old Inns, exit at the A80 northbound diverge slip road at Haggs and follow the diversion signs for Allandale via Bonnybridge.
