British Legion's licence suspended

A POPULAR social club has been forced to shut its doors following a violent incident at a funeral reception.

The Royal British Legion Club, in Muirhead Court, Cumbernauld, has been stripped of its licence for four weeks after an incident at a funeral reception, which resulted in one man requiring medical assistance.

The club's licence was suspended for a month following a meeting last Friday of North Lanarkshire Council's licensing board, where an application to review the Legion's licence was submitted by Strathclyde Police.

The board upheld the complaint, suspending the licence until October 15.
