Broom Church is flush with charity cash

Broom Parish Church has been flushing money down the toilet — all for a good cause.

The congregation has been fundraising since the start of 2015 for the Toilet Twinning project, providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene education in some of the most deprived parts of the world.

Kind-hearted church members have been encouraged to throw their pennies into a special talking toilet bowl — and all that small change is paying off, with £700 raised so far.

The money raised has allowed reverend Jim Boag and Broom Church to twin the church loos with school toilet blocks in Chad and Uganda — and there are plans to pair up with more sites.
