Busby science champs hit the slopes

It was a case of hands-on learning for Busby Primary for Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine week (STEMM).

The school marked it last week with trips, library workshops, class lessons and visits from engineers to doctors and dentists.

Sandra Curran, Busby Primary’s science champion, said: “We are very fortunate to have a supportive community who care about our pupils and their learning. It’s wonderful how they are willing to give up their time to share their knowledge and expertise with pupils.”

Highlights included a visit from the Science Centre to the school with the Fit Lab — so that pupils could learn more about the science of the body while having fun.

P7 youngsters were also able to hit the slopes at Braehead for a sledging lesson. Sandra added: “It was thanks to the generous support from our Parent Council that the pupils could put their classroom learning about forces and friction into action in a very fun and practical way.”
