Buses will help new drive to stub out smoking

The East Dunbartonshire Community Health Partnership Smoke Free Services Team is launching a new, high profile stop smoking campaign.

Local buses will display new eye-catching adverts to encourage people to think about stopping smoking with details on how to contact their local smoke free team.

The campaign is highlighting the three main benefits that people may want to consider when thinking about quitting smoking - saving money, feeling good, and improving health.

Sandra Cairney, head of planning and health improvement for East Dunbartonshire Community Health Partnership, said: “Evidence clearly shows that with the help of a local Smoke Free Service advisor, people are four times more likely to stop smoking.

Smoking is bad for your health and the health of others who breathe in your second-hand smoke. Smoking is also expensive; by giving up smoking you are taking positive steps to improving your health and your wealth.”

The East Dunbartonshire Smoke Free Service offers a wide range of support options to support people to stop smoking.

Both group and one-to-one support is available during the daytime and evenings.
