C Lanark businesses open their doors for Christmas bonanza

Lanark’s traders make a major bid to capture their fair share of the lucrative Christmas shopping spending spree next week.

Once again, the town’s Community Council has joined forces with various businesses in an attempt to persuade Lanarkians to spend more of their Christmas cash in their home town rather than head for the big towns and cities with their purses and wallets.

The Taste of Lanark special shopping Sunday is again being held, this year on December 18 between noon and 4pm.

Businesses usually closed on the Sabbath in the High Street, Wellgate, Hyndford Place, Bannatyne Street and St Leonard Street will join with regular Sunday-openers for the big pre-Yuletide retail push.
