Calendar cash bid by Cumbernauld care home

The calendar was developed with the help of Gregg’s in Cumbernauld, who gave a grant towards its production.
“The calendar features scenes of natural beauty,” said personal activities leader Karen Coombs, who is a keen amateur photographer and took most of the pictures herself. “Most of them are in Scotland – around Cumbernauld as well as Ayrshire and Perthshire – but I also included a couple of pictures I took while on holiday in Portugal including this beach I saw when I was down there. I’ve been to quite a few places but I’d never seen anything like this beach in Portugal. I’ve heard Bondai Beach in Australia comes close, but I haven’t been there yet!”

The calendar costs £10 for a large one and £5 for the smaller version and can be bought at the home itself as well as some local pubs which have agreed to stock it. These are the Stables Bar in Palacerigg, the Scarecrow in Kilsyth and the Smiddy Inn in Balloch.
Another fundraising project the care home is currently working on is a show in Airdrie Town Hall in March. They have signed up several well-known performers to present a night of quality music – watch this space for more details on the show closer to the time.
