Call for community wardens at Seafar

A NEWLY elected councillor is calling for community wardens in a Cumbernauld trouble spot.

Scottish Nationalist Paddy Hogg has said that Seafar needs help – amid recent reports that boozed-up youths are intimidating locals in underpasses and the paths network.

There have also been reports that flashers are at large and that flytipping is rife in this once quiet part of town which falls into the Cumbernauld South ward.

As we revealed last month, many of those involved have even boasted of their antics on social networking sites – complete with photographs of booze and weapons.

The councillor wants to see changes in the town – which he believes that his Labour rivals have failed to implement.

Councillor Hogg said: “I am disappointed the SNP did not take control of the council.

“However I will still campaign for community wardens to patrol the under passes.”

He added: “This will help to reassure the residents that I will explore every possible funding route to start up an organisation to spearhead Cleaning Up Cumbernauld, possibly through Big Lottery funding.”
