Calls for Heroes thanks from England

THE parents of a British soldier killed in Afghanistan two years ago have praised Carluke Rotary Club’s Calls For Heroes fund-raiser, giving brave serving troops 20-minute phone cards so they can talk to loved ones at home.

Malcolm and Anne Watson – whose son David died while serving with the 72nd Engineering Regiment – were in Gateshead for a ceremony on June 19 which saw fund-raising Whickham Clavering Rotary Club members hand over a £2248 cheque to Carluke Rotary Club Calls For Heroes chairman David Brown.
