Calls to dig deep for big Community Orchard Project

An area of waste ground behind Milngavie nursery is being transformed into a community orchard.

The project was awarded £12,000 from Tesco who teamed up with Greenspace Scotland for its Bags of Help initiative.

Their next big work day is on Sunday December 4 between noon and 4pm.

They will be planting fruit trees and have invited all the families who have helped on the project to plant their own “Family Tree”.

They also plan to finish the fencing and plant a rainbow of different coloured raspberry bushes.

Nursery teacher Kate Cameron said: “Lots of people came to help us last time and we really hope we can attract more community volunteers this time too.”
