Trust Enterprises - with support from East Dunbartonshire Council - is creating 65 new homes on a former local authority site off Southbank Road, in Kirkintilloch.

A total of 40 one and two-bedroom flats will be available for rent to working people struggling to afford the cost of renting privately.

The council will take ownership of an additional 25 flats for social rented housing - helping to address the need for local authority homes in East Dunbartonshire.

The £7million development is due to be completed in late 2014. Funding has been partly provided by the Scottish Government.

The 40 Trust homes will be aimed at households earning less than approximately £40,000 a year, who are working and not claiming Housing Benefit and who want to rent long term.

Tenants will benefit from rent levels below the usual private market rent for the area.
