Candidates for local elections are named

There are nine candidates in the running for the four councillor roles available in Clydesdale West, six candidates going for three councillor roles in Clydesdale North, with another six also vying for three positions in the respective wards of Clydesdale East and Clydesdale South.

The candidates in Clydesdale West are, Alex Allison (Conservative and Unionist); Lynsey Hamilton (Scottish Labour Party); Pat Lee (Scottish National Party); Eileen Logan (Scottish Labour Party); Neil MacLeod (UK Independence Party; Robin Mawhinney (Scottish Christian Party); Duncan McFarlane (Independent); Peter Meehan

(Scottish Liberal Democrats) and David Shearer (Scottish National Party).

The candidates in Clydesdale North are, Ed Archer (Independent); Catherine McClymont (Scottish Labour Party); Gordon Muir (Scottish Labour Party); Patrick Ross-Taylor (Scottish Conservative and Unionist); Vivienne Shaw (Scottish National Party) and George Sutherland (Scottish National Party)

In Clydesdale East, the candidates are, Ralph Barker (Scottish Labour Party); Bev Gauld (Scottish National Party); Donald McAllan (Scottish National Party); John McLatchie (Scottish Conservative and Unionist); Janet Moxley (Scottish Green Party) and Hamish Stewart (Scottish Conservative and Unionist).

Candidates in Clydesdale South are, George Greenshields (Scottish Labour Party); Archie Manson (Scottish National Party); Tom McDonald (Scottish National Party); Chris McEwan (UK Independence Party); Colin McGavigan (Scottish Conservative and Unionist) and Alex McInnes (Scottish Labour Party).

To register to vote, the deadline is midnight on Wednesday April 18. To apply to vote by post, the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday April 18.

To cancel, alter or change existing postal or proxy arrangements, the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday April 18.

To appoint someone to vote on your behalf (called a proxy), the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday April 25.
