Carbrain gets set for big day

THE COUNTDOWN to Cumbernauld’s last gala day of 2011 is now underway – as Carbrain gets ready to party on Saturday (August 13)

Always intended as a last hurrah in the week before youngsters return to school, the FREE event will be staged at St Margaret of Scotland Primary School and will be officially opened at 11am by MSP Jamie Hepburn.

Organisers from hardworking Carbrain & Hillcrest Community Council have spent months arranging a variety of different attractions for the big day.

These include a giant slide, face painting, a scavenger hunt, Sumo Suits, bungee trampolines plus the usual stalls, crafts and games. Some feathered friends will also be making a guest appearance - in the shape of birds of prey.

For the first time ever, kiddies rides will also be available to add to the carnival atmosphere. Indoors there will be sumo suits available for wrestling fans plus drama workshops.

Meanwhile three young ladies will be tasked with bringing a royal touch to the proceedings - and last week attended a News photocall as part of their duties!

They are Gala Queen Rebecca Glass of St Margaret of Scotland Primary and her attendents Melissa Pritchard of Carbrain Primary and Hannah Smith of Woodlands Primary School.
