Career week for St Cadoc’s kids

The future is bright for St Cadoc’s youngsters following the school’s annual world of work week.

The Newton Mearns primary’s annual event allows the children to step into grown up shoes by inviting mums, dads and members of the public into the classroom to talk about their wide and varied careers — and this year, pupils were spoiled for choice.

Guest speakers included representatives from the Scottish SPCA and Dog’s Trust for the animal lovers, and Barclays Bank for the more mathematically-minded.

The children were also able to meet pilots, lawyers and even tennis player Nicola Slater, who dropped into the gym to talk about the hard work needed to become a professional athlete.

World of work week coincided with the school’s financial education week, and the ambitious East Ren youngsters were also able to learn more about budgeting everyday costs, rises in inflation and setting up their own shops.

Teacher Angela Nisanci told The Extra: “The children really enjoyed taking part and St Cadoc’s Primary would like to take this opportunity to thank our visitors for their continued support.”
