Carers get looked after at a picnic to reward dedication

Carers in Kirkintilloch were thanked for the contribution that they make to their families and communities with an indoor picnic.

Carers Link held the picnic – part of a series of events to mark Carers Week – at Kirkintilloch Baptist Church.

Diana Cadger, who cares for her mother and her daughter, said: “Caring for family members is a rewarding part of my life, but sometimes it can be stressful. The monthly Carers Cafe at Kirkintilloch Baptist Church gives me the opportunity to chat with others who understand what it feels like to be a carer.

“It was good to see so many other carers at the picnic, to enjoy the food and entertainment provided, and to feel that the work I do as a carer is appreciated. I would encourage any carer to go along to their local group if they can.”

Amrit Bedi, community support coordinator for Carers Link, said: “No matter who you are or who you care for, Carers Link is here to support you. The groups give carers the opportunity to share tips and experiences with each other. Anyone who wants to know more can call me on 0800 975 2131.”
