Caring Bushra receives worthy recognition
A charity shop volunteer has been named area volunteer of the year by Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd.
Bushra Aziz, who has volunteered at the charity shop in Victoria Road for four years, was nominated by her colleagues because of the way she has grown in confidence since beginning the role four years ago — so much so that she is now stepping forward to take the official training to become a keyholder and take on more responsibility. Manager Alan Rankin said: “She does everything with an infectious level of enthusiasm.
To build her retail knowledge and prepare herself for this new role, she has been volunteering full-time at the shop, becoming an invaluable member of the team.
Bushra was announced as the Central Scotland area winner in the run up to Salvation Army Trading Company’s annual conference in London on 21 April, which celebrated the hard work of everybody involved in running the company’s UK-wide network of over 200 charity shops and 6,500 clothing banks. Alan added: “Bushra fully deserves this award,” said Alan Rankin. “After four years with us we have seen her really grow in confidence. She doesn’t just come in and carry out the tasks to a very high standard.
“She is a kind and considerate person who goes the extra mile to help in whichever way she can and has shown real commitment to her volunteering role and future retail career by training to become a keyholder.”
