Carluke chef Shaun Letham is Scottish champion

CHEF Shaun Letham is celebrating winning a top prize at the Scottish Chef of the Year Awards.

The 23-year-old, who works at the Prego Restaurant in Carluke, won the Pasta Challenge thanks to his beetroot pasta served on a bed of wild mushrooms with asparagus.

The competition was tough with so many talented chefs entering the contest but Shaun blew the judges away with his dish to take the top prize.

He said: “We only got half an hour to create the dish so it was pretty difficult but I was really pleased to have won.

“There were chefs entering from all over the country so there were a lot of talented people there. To win was great.

“I found out on the day that I had won the competition and it was such a relief. All the chefs and the staff at Prego were all delighted for me.”
