Carluke Gala Day 2010

HUNDREDS of people turned out to support Carluke Gala Day, which was yet again blessed by brilliant sunshine.

With proud parents Gordon and Tracy looking on, Gala Queen Courtney Baxter was crowned at the Cross by crowning lady Gill Murray.

Gala Chair Ruby Mitchell said: "It is lovely to see everybody here. Carluke people must be praying very hard because we always seem to get a good day for the gala!"

The crowning ceremony followed a procession through the town by an impressive 21 floats, with the overall Gala Day Trophy for Best Float on the Move going to Living in America by St Athanasius Primary School.

Uncle Sam was played by school janitor Sam Knox, who insisted that it was purely coincidental that USA were playing England at the World Cup that night!
