With most of the country in the grips of Royal Wedding fever one Carluke girl went a step further and wrote a letter to the Queen.

Ironically, the letter arrived at the Fenton’s home, in Goremire Road, the same day as Olivia and her school friends were having a Royal Wedding celebration.

Olivia said: “I was really pleased when I got a letter back from the Queen. I told her that about me and everyone who lives in my house.

“I also told her that she was always really smart and that she should be really proud of all the work that she has done.

“I wrote about my school Crawforddyke Primary and that I hoped that her inspectors that came to the school enjoyed their visit a couple of weeks ago. It was amazing to get a letter back.

“When I showed it to everyone in the school they were really pleased and said that I should be really proud of myself.”
