Carluke hailed as Scotland’s most developed town over last decade

THE key-note speaker at South Lanarkshire Rural Communities Conference in Carluke hailed the town as being Scotland’s best developed place in the past decade.

Ross Martin said he was hugely impressed by multi-million pound investments in Carluke’s Streetscape town centre upgrade, its state-of-the-art John Cumming Stadium, Carluke Lifestyles Centre, new schools and health centre.

Addressing a Lifestyles Centre audience packed with groups who have undertaken local regeneration projects, Ross said: “Carluke is a great example of a Scottish town which has benefited from significant investment over a relatively short period of time.

“I travel around Scotland quite a lot and I can’t think of another town which has seen this level of investment.

“To see all these new facilities in Carluke is just astonishing.”

Ross, managing director of the Centre for Scottish Public Policy, praised everyone who had helped with the expansion of the town.
