Carluke High pupils visit Auschwitz

Each year, Carluke High School chooses two 6th year pupils to represent the school on the Lessons From Auschwitz Project.

This year Carluke sent Stephen Buggy (16) from Braidwood and Robert Cunningham (16) from Yieldshields, both from Class 6D.

The trip is organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust lessons from Auschwitz project. The Project is split into four parts but is centered around a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration and Extermination Camp in Southern Poland.

The students initially attended an Orientation Seminar, meeting up with around 230 senior students from across the West of Scotland on September 7.

After their return they were made ambassadors for the Trust and they will be taking school assemblies to teach others about what they have learned.
