Carluke High Street branded “a graveyard with windows”

CARLUKE’S much maligned High Street has been condemned as being “like a graveyard with windows” by a man who’s lived in the town for 16 years.

John Young (69), of Church Lane, hit out at the number of boarded up and disused shop units in the town centre, including the former Haldanes supermarket in Rankin Gait.

“The town centre has started to look like Dodge City after John Wayne has been here,” John said.

“The High Street is like a graveyard with windows.
