Gavin Connor (55) from Waterlands Gardens found out he’d won the incredible five-figured sum when lottery ambassador Judie McCourt knocked on his door to present him with the cheque.

His lucky postcode ML8 4EX was drawn as a winner in the Saturday Street Prize at the weekend.

Gavin was not the only Carluke resident to win with a lucky postcode.

Eight neighbours on Samson Crescent, who share the postcode ML8 4RP, won the Daily Prize on Friday. Each winning ticket is worth £1,000 and two of the Samson Crescent players doubled their cash by playing with two tickets.

Gavin said: “It was lovely to meet Judie in person and it feels so good to be a winner. I have played for a couple of years now and I never thought I’d win this much.

“My wife Catherine and I have lived on the street for 25 years and we’d like to get the outside of our house roughcasted.

“I’ve also promised my teenage daughter Emma that I’ll get her a pair of designer shoes for her prom night later this year.”

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt added:

“What an amazing prize! It was lovely to see Gavin’s reaction to winning the lottery. The best part of my job is delivering cheques to our lovely players who are helping to raise so much for good causes.”
