Carluke lads take on Monster Bike and Hike

THREE Carluke lads are among the first to challege the Monster and raise funds for Maggie's Centres.

The Monster Bike and Hike is the cancer support charity's largest annual fundraising event, involving a 30-mile cycle and then a hike in the Highlands.

David Taylor, Murray Easton and Martyn McSporran managed to complete the course last year and are now looking ahead to the 2010 challenge in May.

David said: "I've visited Maggie's Glasgow Centre and felt incredibly proud that my efforts helped people on their journey with cancer.

"My friends and I raised 2,500 in 2009 which paid for almost 100 people to visit the centres."

Maggie's has five centres in Scotland, with an interim service at Wishaw.

Sir Chris Hoy is encouraging people to take on the challenge for 2010.

Chris said: "Hundreds of people take part in the Monster Bike and Hike every year for Maggie's Centres, pushing themselves to the limit and beyond to raise thousands of pounds. Make 2010 the year that you take on the challenge."
