Carluke man Alan Frame is unhappy with council over continued flooding

A CARLUKE man has hit out at South Lanarkshire Council after flooding caused damage to both his and his neighbour’s home.

Alan Frame is furious that his home on Cairneymount Road has been continually flooded since 2009.

The flooding, he claimed, was caused by the building of the nearby Carluke High School and had caused nothing but stress.

Alan (46) said: “The amount of water was never a problem before the school was built because a nearby marsh-land soaked up all the water.

“But, because the school was built on a raised level and the council’s contractor infilled the marsh-land and used it to store materials, the water has been coming down into both my garden and my neighbours’.

“On one occasion the council had to come and pump the water away because it was like Lanark Loch outside my door.”
