Andrea Watt, of Parkandarroch Crescent, is aiming to thank staff at Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children for the terrific treatment and care her son Bryan received while he was in the hospital with kidney problems.

Andrea (39) said: “My son, who is now almost 27 months old, had to have pyeloplasty surgery at the hospital a year ago.

“Thanks to the surgeon, Melanie Clark, and her staff they managed to save his kidney, so I’m determined to give something back.

“It is only when you are a parent and you see your son really struggling that you appreciate the work that the doctors and nurses do. They are absolutely fantastic.

“Over the few days he was in hospital Bryan and myself went through hell, but the staff couldn’t do enough for us so this is going to be my way of saying thank you.”

Despite her son continuing to have hospital visits over the next few years, Andrea is happy to report that Bryan is now back to his bright and bubbly self after his harrowing ordeal.
