Carluke student Amy Watson raising money for Spina Bifida

A UNIVERSITY student from Carluke is bidding to raise around £1000 for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association.

Amy Watson, of Marigold Way, ran a cocktail evening with buffet and disco at Dalziel Park in Motherwell, on Thursday.

The 19-year-old, an events management student at the University of the West of the Scotland, explained how she came up with the idea with fellow second-year students Natalie Longworth, Grace Peacock and Rachel Comrie.

Amy said: “I contacted the Cumbernauld-based fashion company of Clare Cogan for work experience and got chatting to her; I found out that she worked for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association.

“I discovered that this group received very little government funding and relied on donations. That’s when I came up with the idea.”
