Carluke superwoman Sharon Biggins completes marathon run

CARLUKE superwoman Sharon Biggins completed an ultra marathon, five marathons, two half marathons, one 10km run, a 114-mile cycle and a triathlon during nine consecutive weeks of gruelling action.

The 40-year-old, of Coldstream Reservoir, finished all the races to raise over £3000 for Cancer Research UK in memory of her mum Margaret, who died from secondary liver cancer last autumn at the age of 62.

“Members of my family tell me that I’ve got the same fighting spirit as my mum,” Sharon said.

“I’m like a dog with a bone and never give up. It’s sheer pig-headedness.”

Sharon’s gruelling schedule culminated in Scotland’s super-tough, 33-mile Glen Ogle ultra marathon on November 3.

“That basically involved running up the side of a mountain,” she said. “There was snow and sleet and it was very tough, but William and I completed it in five hours 55 minutes.”
