Carluke teenager was Titanic victim

IT might be exactly 100 years ago this week that the Titanic slipped beneath the waves but mystery STILL surrounds the fate of a young Carluke man on board the liner that fateful night.

Now Gazette readers are asked to turn history detectives to establish, a century on, exactly what end 19-year-old James Kelly of Kirk Street met in the North Atlantic in the early hours of April 15, 1912.

The plea comes from a relative of the young would-be emigrant who was heading for a new life in North America when he drowned with over 1500 others in history’s most infamous sea disaster.
