Carluke’s Kenny and George to skydive in Spain

Childhood friends Kenny Purdie (48) and 49-year-old George Babes will be heading to Barcelona over the weekend to take part in the tandem skydive to raise funds for BuildAid - a charity which is helping to rebuild homes that have been devastated by various natural disasters.

All the money raised by Kenny, George and the 20 other people who will be taking part will be going to help people in Haiti after the small Caribbean island was decimated by an earthquake in 2010.

George, who imports and exports horses, said: “The whole idea came from Robert Morris, of Morris Furniture Group, who does a lot of charity work for BuildAid.

“He gave me a call and I was delighted to do it.”

Kenny, who owns Photoflash Coaches in Carluke, continued: “It will be a good weekend as Barcelona’s a beautiful city.

“It’s a great cause as well.

“Ideally we would like to raise about £5,000 and have had donations coming in from suppliers and other people.”
