Carluke’s Michael Hobbins is MasterChef star

SUPERSTAR chef Michael Hobbins turned the heat up on his cooking career – taking part in the BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals TV series.

Former Crawforddyke Primary and Carluke High pupil Michael (29) was eliminated from the series at the quarter-final stage but not before wowing the judges with a series of scrumptious dishes.

The experience gained from the show has certainly given Michael, who now lives in Glasgow, a lot of confidence.

And he has one person in particular to thank – girlfriend Alison who signed him up for the show!

Michael said: “I had watched the show for quite a few years and thought ‘I could do that’.

“But it was Alison that signed me up for it and I’m so glad that she did.”

Double Michelin starred chef Michel Roux, MasterChef expert Gregg Wallace, and the formidable Monica Galetti were the show judges seeking Britain’s next culinary superstar.

Michael impressed them with a number of dishes but just missed out on the final stages.
