

The 23-year-old from Carluke has been combining his training for the gruelling 26 mile race with finishing his medical studies at Glasgow University.
Having passed his final exams and set to start a new job in August Richard, who now lives in Cathcart with wife Lidia, has been able to turn his attention to the marathon.

He said: “This will be my first marathon although I did the Glasgow half marathon in 80 minutes.
“Because I just sat my finals I haven’t had a lot of time to do much training but when I passed I fully focused on my training.
