Carluke’s Roadmeetings Hospital could be set to close

The 114-year-old Roadmeetings Hospital in the town’s Goremire Road, which provides devoted care for its elderly patients, may soon be closing its doors.

An NHS Lanarkshire spokeswoman told the Gazette that the 20-bed hospital, which opened in 1897, could be phased out as part of the Government’s Reshaping Care for Older People policy.

She said: “Due to this policy, the way in which care is provided for older people is changing across Scotland.
