Carnwath Lodge toasts its 200th anniversary

IN this Diamond Jubilee Year, it’s amazing to think that Carnwath’s historic Lodge Lockhart St John No. 248 was already 140 years old when the Queen ascended the throne 60 years ago!

So 2012 is the double centenary of the Lodge, marked by a special civic reception at which office-bearers and brethren were congratulated on this masonic milestone by Provost Eileen Logan.

The event in Hamilton’s County Buildings was a time to bask in the tradition and history of Clydesdale’s longest-surviving institutions, formed when Napoleon still held sway over Europe and Queen Victoria was yet to be born.
