Carnwath Primary pupils put on amazing performance

THERE was more than a splash of colour at Carnwath Primary School’s end of term performance of Joseph and His Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Pupils aged P5 to P7 put on a great show, with a coat made specially for it.

Last June it was agreed that the upper school, P5 to P7, would put on a performance of Joseph following lessons on the Bible story and Drama sessions focusing on stage drama techniques.

The first thing Ann Kerr, the Religious and Moral Eduction, and drama teacher, needed was a coat, and she went looking for one on a visit to Dubai last July.

“I went to the local textile area and chose 12 colours of satin, drew the coat and gave measurements for the coat to be made for me, even though at that point I had no Joseph! “ she said.

“It took a while to get it right as I do not speak Arabic or Indian and they did not speak English! Pictures and a lot of miming eventually worked!

“The coat was made and my son collected it in November.”
