Carrying Olympic Torch is amazing experience says Biggar’s Jennifer Tawse

OLYMPIC torch-bearer Jennifer Tawse, from Biggar, visited Walston School on Wednesday to let the children have a touch of history.

And since her stint in the Torch Relay through the British Isles, she has visited a host of local primaries to share the excitement.

Jenni (35) ran her 300m of the relay route in Bearsden last Saturday.

“It was the most amazing experience of my life,” she said. “The crowds were huge.”

The crowds included around 40 relatives and friends of Jenni there to cheer her on.

“I had great support from them,” she added.

“It was such an honour, and it was a lovely day as well.”

Jenni was given the chance to carry the torch after raising around £13,000 for Cancer Research in the London Marthon last year, and she embarked on that as a way of repaying surgeons who had operated on her after she contracted a rare form of cancer in her tongue.
