Cartland pressure group still have the wind up over forgotten anemometer

JUST when you thought the battle of the turbines in the countryside between Lanark and Carluke was over, a parting shot has been fired – by the victors.

Recently, villagers of Cartland and Kilncadzow successfully campaigned against two 400-foot high wind turbines being erected near their homes.

However, although the battle against the Energy4All development is over, the Clyde Valley Wind Farm pressure group revealed that an unwelcome legacy had been left behind, in the shape of a 240-foot anemometer mast erected to test windspeeds before the turbines were built.

Although the turbines have been knocked back, the mast remains – despite a council deadline of January 20 for it to be removed.
