Cast your vote for Clarkston project

Clarkston Community Council is on a mission to buy defibrillators for the community — and needs your help to do it.

The community council is one of 232 shortlisted groups across Scotland in the running for an award from the Bank of Scotland Community Fund.

Four causes in each of 58 communities will be awarded funding, depending on the number of votes they receive, with first place gaining £3,000, followed by awards of £2,000, £1,000 and £500.

A spokeswoman commented that the community council is “delighted” to have been nominated, and told The Extra: “We applied for the award to enable us to purchase and install potentially life-saving defibrillators in Clarkston, for the benefit of our community.”

The race is on to gain as many votes as possibly by a closing date of October 10 — but Clarkston CC has been unable to advertise the competition on their own notice board as a result of a damaged lock.
