Castlebank Park in Lanark secures £195,000

IT HAS been a mixed week for Lanarkians desperate to see the resurgence of Castlebank Park.

Supporters of the proposals to upgrade the park were delighted to learn that the Lanark Community Development Trust’s application to the Climate Challenge Fund had been successful, meaning that a £195,000 grant would be on its way to Lanark’s down-at-heel park.

However, that joy turned to despair when it was discovered that another application - this time from the Big Lottery Fund for almost £250,000 - had been unsuccessful.
