Celebrating Glasgow's diverse multi-culturalism

Scotland's biggest free multicultural festival - The Glasgow Mela - kicks-off this Sunday at noon to celebrate the diversity of the city in the west end's beautiful Kelvingrove Park.

The programme is bursting with live music, colourful costumes, street performers, exotic and mouth-watering world foods, and fun for all the family.

The summer fun continues with Merchant City Festival 2016, a whopping 9 day festival of music, comedy, food, fashion and more, from 30 July - 7 August in Glasgow’s city centre. Including a bustling Gaelic Arts Hub, this year in The Briggait, as well as the return of the hugely popular Vintage.

This year a fantastic celebration of dance and performance is woven through the fabric of the festival. Don’t be surprised to stumble on 1950s jive dancers, 1940s Clippies, and pop-up dance duets on the theme of love.

But don’t leave it all to chance - here are some key events to track down!

Start the festival fun at our Big Fat Electric Ceilidh, in the Merchant Square from 6.30pm on 30 July. Free and open to all.

Book now for Riders and Running Horses, a visceral new dance event which has its Scottish premiere on the roof of Duke Street Car Park on 3, 4 and 5 August.

And down at The Briggait, Dance House Glasgow presents a free dance programme from 4pm on 6 August
