Celebrating the city’s music, mirth and magic

CULTURE, history and heritage are celebrated this weekend with the latest event from the South Glasgow Heritage and Environment Trust.

The Trust – based at Queen’s Park parish church – presents Music, Mirth and Magic: a nostalgic look at the cultural life of Glasgow.

The event takes place at the Gorbals Premier Inn (Ballater St), 10.30am-4pm on Saturday (March 23).

Discussion topics include The History of Panto, The Magic Circle, Music at the Apollo, The Black Minstrelsy, Going to the Pictures and From Temperance to Happy Hours.
