Ceremony is a positive experience for youths

The youth project, based in Kirkintilloch, supports vulnerable young people into employment, education, training and volunteering.

The event was held to celebrate the learning and achievements of those who had participated in a Positive Achievements programme during the second half of 2015.

East Dunbartonshire Provost Una Walker was delighted to attend the event and present certificates to the young people, all of whom received a portfolio of awards for their involvement in many courses and activities.

She said: “This was a brilliantly uplifting and inspiring event where we recognised the hard work of many spirited young people who are determined to learn new skills and gain experiences to help them on their way towards a positive destination.

“I’d like to congratulate them all and wish them well on their next steps.”

One parent whose daughter attended a School Leaver Programme credits the project with helping her have a more positive outlook about her future.

She said: “Going to Positive Achievements has improved my daughter’s ability and willingness to communicate and we are now able to chat about problems or issues and we feel closer together as a family.”
