Championship medal smashes its estimate

The nine-carat gold medal from the 1931/32 season belonged to John McMenemy, a fixture of the side who won 30 out of 38 games to finish five points ahead of Rangers.

It was given a guide price of £1,500-£2,000, but ended up being sold at the McTear’s Works of Art Auction for £5,500 to a buyer from down south.
