Chance to have your say on fire service
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Plan is currently open for consultation until Friday, February 14, prior to a final version being submitted to North Lanarkshire Council.
SFRS area manager John Miller said: “This plan is about how we ensure the most efficient use of fire and rescue resources to meet the agreed needs of our communities.

Hide Ad“Reducing the impact fire has within our area is at the centre of every North Lanarkshire firefighter’s role and our plan makes clear the importance of working in partnership to make our communities safer.
“North Lanarkshire has one of the most forward thinking Community Planning Partnerships and by working closely with our partners SFRS is able to identify the people most at risk from fire.
“This means we can target our popular free home fire safety visit programme to where it will be most effective, reaching more of our vulnerable residents and seeing that other steps to improve safety are taken.
“One of the biggest challenges facing SFRS in North Lanarkshire is the high level of fire related anti-social behaviour, which has significant financial, environmental and public safety impact.

Mr Miller added: “We are absolutely determined the service we provide is and will continue to be driven by consultation with the people we serve.
“The partnership between firefighters and the public is vital to building strong, safe and resilient communities throughout our area, which means continually developing local solutions to our local needs.”
