Charity cheque is just the job

STAFF at Cumbernauld Jobcentre recently presented a local charity with the proceeds of their fundraising efforts.

The sport and social club at the job centre organise various events such as dress down days and sales, and last week invited David Macarthur of Now You’re Talking, which helps people overcome depression and other mental health issues, to collect a £750 cheque from club chairman Robert McGowan.

Committee member Julie Partridge told the News: “We held several events to raise this money for a local charity. We are now raising money to help a coworker, Michelle Runsie, who is travelling to Africa in the summer with Comfort Rwanda to help with various community activities.”

David Macarthur explained how the money will be used: “This money will be added to a cash pot we have gathered from several sources and go towards launching a series of new self development programmes. We are starting our pilot programmes in mid-February and these courses will help to build confidence in people who are struggling with life.”
